Go back to Final Cut Pro to see that there's now a copy of that Blur title. Click Create and check the box for Save a Preview Movie. Leave the category Built In/Out and choose New Theme. Save as a duplicate so you don't overwrite the original and call it Blur with Arrows. Now that you've added content to the project, you can save and have it set up in Final Cut. To shorten it, move the playhead to the location of about 120 frames and press the O key, the Write On behavior now starts around the beginning of the Blur and stops around the same time that title animates off screen. The arrow behavior lasts longer than the project. The Heads-Up Display reveals the properties of the Write On effect, and you can see that the shape is being written on screen. With the Write On behavior selected, go to the Window menu and click Show HUD, which is short for Heads-Up Display. This is the best way to animate in Motion, as it involves no key framing and allows you to do fantastic things by simply dragging behaviors onto items. Select the second one to highlight the second arrow in the viewer and see that it's being drawn onscreen with a Write On behavior. These paint strokes are the arrows in the animation. Click the disclosure triangle to find two paint strokes. You can even control the way the arrow is animated using the arrow group. You can select the arrow and move it around directly within the viewer canvas and see those arrows change position. Extend it to match the length of the project and you'll notice the two arrows travel over time. But note that inside the Blur group, we now see the Arrow 05 content animated on the screen. Click the Apply button and choose to switch to 3D. With Arrow 05 selected and the playhead at the beginning of the mini timeline, select Project in the Layers tab. There's also a timeline and a mini timeline that displays the selected item from the layers tab. ![]() Like Photo Applications, Motion consists of a layer panel where you can select an item and see its properties such as position, scale, and rotation in the inspector, properties similar to the video inspector inside of Final Cut Pro 10. What is inspected depends on what is showing in the layers tab. But unlike Final Cut, the window is on the left side of the interface. Motions library happens to be a little more robust. The library is similar to the titles and generator sidebar where there are titles and generators to add to a Final Cut Pro project. ![]() Let's take a quick tour of the Motion interface. At the top of the Apple Motion window, it says Blur copy, which means we're not overwriting the original title. Select the titles group and go to the Blur title, select it, right-click, and choose to open a copy in Apple Motion. The same is true in the titles and generator sidebar. For example, in the effects browser, if you go to the All category and select the 50s TV effect then right-click it, a copy can be opened inside Apple Motion. There are many things located in Final Cut Pro's titles and generators sidebar as well as in the effect browser such as transitions and affects. In final Cut Pro 10 in the Module 5 keyword collection, double-click 505 The Motion Connection project to open it in the timeline. In this tutorial, we'll open a title in Apple Motion directly from Final Cut, explore the motion interface, preview motion content, and send that title copy back to Final Cut Pro 10. Apple Motion is a companion application to Final Cut Pro 10 available in the App Store that allows you to make robust motion graphics then save them in Final Cut Pro 10. ![]()
